Colourful sunny November in Prolaz

Caras Gorges are situated in  Anina Mountains and are part of Semenic – Caras Gorges National Park. They are 18-19 km long. They are considered  one of the longest and wildest gorges of Romania. What we can find there apart from caves, streams and waterfalls are the great forests of beeches. The unsophisticated tourist, the one with boots and a rucksack would take great pleasure in taking this route. The most visited part is the one situated between Carasova and Tolosu Cave.

Be careful about the boots you are wearing. The stones are sometimes slippery and many of them are sharp enough to feel them.Sometimes the path is blocked by fallen tree trunks that stand in your way.

Eibenthal and its isolated charm

When leaving Caras Severin county and heading towards Dubova and the Iron Gates, you may find some time to turn your way and go to Eibenthal, a Czech village, situated in Banat Mountains.

The village was first mentioned in 1827 when Czech families coming from Bohemia were brought here in order to protect the frontier of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The inhabitans main activities used to be cutting wood and mining. Today it has a small number of villagers, most of them being Czechs.

What strikes you most is the cleaning of the streets and the houses. There are also many flowers and the land is cultivated almost entirely.

Even if it is isolated the road is in good conditions, although it is so narrow. But the view of the valley with the Danube at its  bottom , deserves it!

In August there is a festival, organised by the Czechs.june 2016 moldova noua, zlatita, clisura, mraconia, dubova 165.JPGjune 2016 moldova noua, zlatita, clisura, mraconia, dubova 189.JPGjune 2016 moldova noua, zlatita, clisura, mraconia, dubova 153.JPGjune 2016 moldova noua, zlatita, clisura, mraconia, dubova 158.JPGjune-2016-moldova-nouazlatita-clisura-mraconia-dubova-175june 2016 moldova noua, zlatita, clisura, mraconia, dubova 173.JPGjune-2016-moldova-nouazlatita-clisura-mraconia-dubova-191june-2016-moldova-nouazlatita-clisura-mraconia-dubova-176june-2016-moldova-nouazlatita-clisura-mraconia-dubova-163

Rusca- Teregova and its hidden silence

Somehow, our mind focuses on known and well known places, when talking about  a particular region. We do find surprises when our focus meets new areas, unfamilar to us, yet of spectacular and unique beauty. If you go to Băile Herculane , you should know that when you leave  Armeniș, you find Rusca, an old and rich village of Banat.

What is more is that here in its neighbourhood, lies an artificial lake, a storage dam of 75 meters height , just south of Țarcu Mountains.  It is the storage dam that feeds  the  first automized hydro-electric plant of Romania. ( which is in Feneș, a nearby village).

The surroundings call for your presence because you can actually meet very people here. Lots of trees, crops and domestic animals come to complete this archaic picture of beauty. The storage dam is the house of many wild ducks.

There are a some guesthouses which offer you accommodation and food.poiana-rusca-oct-2016-005poiana-rusca-oct-2016-007poiana rusca, oct 2016 008.JPG
